BERLIN – Actress Sara Dastjani actually lives under the California sun: But this weekend the model is in Berlin. The influencer took some time between appointments and talked to me about Corona, dubious comments and her love for the city of Berlin.

Sara Dastjani came back from the States and came straight to Berlin. The beauty with Persian roots is known to many from glossy pictures. But the 31-year-old has spoken more openly than almost any other model in recent days about the personal consequences of the corona pandemic. It was therefore a special honor for me to be able to ask the actress questions about this as well.

Dear Sara, welcome to Berlin. Nice that you’re here. What are you doing here in our city this weekend?

Sara Dastjani: “Thank you very much. I am very happy to be back home. Today (Saturday, September 19th, 2020, author’s note) I had a casting here in Berlin and it was so nice in my own language tomorrow (Sunday, 09/20/20, author’s note) I have a photo shoot. I started my official comeback in Germany with my passion and work! “

As a model, actress and influencer, you are not only in our city for work. What is Berlin for you and what else do you like to do when you are here regularly?

Sara Dastjani: “It all started for me in Berlin. It has always been my second home. I started modeling here eight years ago and had my first moderation and acting jobs here. The majority of my German friends live in Berlin . I love going from restaurant to restaurant here and I often go to events. From my point of view, Berlin is the liveliest and most inspiring city in Germany. “

Corona destroyed everything overnight

Berlin, Stuttgart – your hometown -, Los Angelas: Up until Corona you were traveling the world a lot for jobs. How has Corona changed your business personally and how badly has the pandemic hit you, both professionally and privately?

Sara Dastjani: “Corona destroyed everything I had built up hard in Los Angeles and internationally overnight. There were two Hollywood productions and a leading role in a successful TV concept and everything was frozen. No films are being made , Advertising and social media deals were shut down and I was stuck alone in my apartment in LA for 5.5 months. It was like being in jail. I’m very happy that we are handling this crisis so well. When I finally got back in Germany, I was initially in shock when I saw so many people outside in the cafés. I just hadn’t seen it for half a year. “

Self-employed people in your industry in particular were hit hard by Corona. Apart from the casting in Berlin; Do you notice that there are more jobs again or is there currently only Instagram?

Sara Dastjani: “I notice that there is again interest in cooperations and that you can slowly become productive again. Since I’ve been away for seven years, I have to slowly gain a foothold. Luckily, inquiries come so slowly. Instagram is not as it used to be either. I think it will take a while for it to really boom again, as everyone is affected by COVID. “

Many think you are sexy for 24 hours

In BILD you recently told exclusively that it was mainly men who sent you suggestive offers during the crisis; offered you money for certain “services”. Do you still have to react tough to many such inquiries or has it subsided?

Sara Dastjani: “Unfortunately, there have always been these inquiries because many do not understand our work. They think you are styled for 24 hours, you are sexy and just have a good life Constant travel. However, especially during the Corona period, many men tried to offer money for the craziest things and often also sent very dubious messages. “

Your fashion pictures on Instagram are very versatile – sporty to elegant, also a bit revealing. What do you personally like to wear most privately? In your opinion, what are the fashion trends in the current autumn / winter?

Sara Dastjani: “In my private life I prefer to wear casual clothes. I am very versatile when it comes to my looks, as I always decide on the occasion, weather and feeling. My style shows how I am. Versatile, courageous, multi-faceted and happy often feminine and a little sexy. As long as it’s stylish, you can wear anything. I have always made a conscious decision against brand prints. We should always be our own brand and not let ourselves be a brand. Jeans, nude tones and a mix Classy and sporty are always popular. I also like to pay attention to details. For me, jewelry, for example, is always part of an outfit. “

I will always be who I was

I noticed that you respond to almost every comment on Instagram, even if it is with an approving emoji. How important is the feedback from your fans / subscribers to you and how much time do you take every day to react to the news.

Sara Dastjani: “I have never reacted to comments in the past and at some point I took the trouble and consciously made a daily time to answer, to show my thanks and appreciation to followers and people who support me. Many don’t do that. It goes down well with my followers. I always stay the person I was and success won’t change it. I also want to give something back to others and it’s important to stay down to earth. “

Last question again about Berlin: Your management mentioned “casually” that you can imagine coming to Berlin. Hand on heart: Would that be an option, are you considering moving?

Sara Dastjani: “I’ve been considering moving to Berlin for a few years now. I feel at home here and love the big city. Many of my friends are just waiting for it. If it turns out professionally, it would be a dream!”

Thank you for the interview.
